Paul Pender, MD practiced clinical ophthalmology for 38 years, specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases. A graduate of Harvard College and the University of Michigan Medical Center, he advocates for both patients and physicians and blogs regularly on timely medical issues on his website www.PaulPenderMD.com and popular social media platforms. Dr. Pender did his ophthalmology residency training at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Pender received the Secretariat Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his work on webinars for clinicians and residents-in-training. The New England Ophthalmological Society, America’s oldest medical specialty society, established a biennial lecture in his name to bring to Boston international experts in cataract and refractive surgery.

Dr. Pender is an investor with, and advisor to, Vxtra Health. As its Director of Digital Health Communications, Dr. Pender has hosted key members of the Vxtra Health team and its advisors on numerous video productions to communicate its mission to improve the delivery of health benefits for employer-sponsored health plans. He is the author of Rebuilding Trust in Healthcare: A Doctor’s Prescription for a Post-Pandemic America and he publishes his work through Early Arrival Press, New Hampshire. Dr. Pender has appeared as a guest on the podcasts Quality Talk with Jodie Jackson, Jr; Rx for Success with Randall Cook, MD; Living in the Solution with Elaina George, MD; and The Podcast with Kevin Pho, MD.
